Watercolors painting of Stoney Street in London.
This is a location where I have painted several watercolors, as I find it a fascinating subject within historic London; in fact, it even served as a filming location for scenes in the Harry Potter movies. The street is called Stoney Street and is situated right next to Borough Market. The overhead railway bridge creates a composition of intersecting lines and areas of shadow along the curve of the alleyway; the old walls, iron gates, and railway structure evoke the atmosphere of the most authentic London. Watercolor painting created in a travel sketchbook; work by the artist Ernest Descals.

Urban painting with the Hippodrome Casino and Tube entrance.
Continuing my series of cityscapes in central London, here I've painted the Hippodrome Casino next to the Leicester Square Tube station entrance in Charing Cross. It's a corner where light enters from the left of the building, creating a soft backlight. The dark tones of the Hippodrome stand out against the wall with its windows and architectural details. The street is filled with people in their daily activities. The painting captures everyday scenes, focusing on the people who bring the moment to life. This painting by Ernest Descals, on 50 x 70 cm paper, uses light and shadow to structure the artwork. It's a work about theaters in the West End.

Watercolors painting, L'artista Van in Golders Green.
I have a special fondness for Golders Green, surely because the bus I take from the airport takes me there. Arriving in London brings with it a torrent of stimuli that flood my eager artist's eyes. Although these are sensations I've experienced many times before, each time is different. A different light or perspective provides me with countless subjects to paint. Very close to the bus station, I'm greeted by the Ristorante Pizzeria L'Artista, where I begin my sketching sessions in my notebook. Some, many, of these evocative sketches later serve as inspiration for larger and more elaborate works, but they retain the charm of the freshness that comes from loose, spontaneous watercolors. They are paintings that are definitive in themselves. The vintage van, "L'Artista Van," is one of the various pieces displayed on the street outside the restaurant, true antiques that attract me. I've painted it with some motorcycles in front of it to add visual elements. Watercolor by the artist Ernest Descals, London Impressions.

Paintings of Kentish Town Railways Station, London.
Painting the train stations in London, Kentish Town station with the last light of the afternoon, while a National Rail train crosses the urban landscape, the most illuminated part is at the top due to the inclination of the sun at this time, thus giving a curious depth between the gray tones of the train that almost blend with those of the cement. Oil painting on paper measuring 50 x 70 centimeters.
